Bayern call on UEFA to punish Ibra

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has called for UEFA to punish Zlatan Ibrahimovic following the Paris Saint-Germain striker’s attack on Pep Guardiola.

• Schaaf: Manchester City preview

Ibrahimovic, who played under Bayern coach Guardiola at Barcelona in the 2009-10 season, called him "a coward" and claimed "he is no man"

The Sweden international left the Nou Camp after just one campaign, returning to Serie A where he joined AC Milan but on the release of his autobiography "I am Zlatan" in Germany, he renewed his criticism of the Catalan coach.

On Tuesday, Rummenigge hit back in defence of Guardiola, saying: "Stupidity is part of the personality development of every man. It is, as you can see with Ibrahimovic, also allowed."

He then called for UEFA punishment, adding: "That was crass, unsportsmanlike. UEFA could reflect over it."

Rummenigge added that Ibrahimovic, who had a two-match ban reduced by one match last season, was "previously convicted"

Speaking in Manchester ahead of Bayern’s Champions League game against Manchester City, Guardiola refused to comment on Ibrahimovic’s statements.

"There are more important things than to mull over Zlatan," he said. However, he did not rule out replying in the future, adding: "I might say something about it in the next couple of days."
