Antonio Conte cautious over Mancini

Juventus coach Antonio Conte is looking forward to facing Roberto Mancini this week but said he is unsure what to expect from his Galatasaray side.

Rothwell: Five things Mancini must do
Juve and Torino in Twitter row

Galatasaray appointed Mancini on Monday evening, and will take charge of the Turkish giants for the first time for Wednesday night’s trip to the Juventus Stadium.

Conte described the former Lazio, Inter Milan and Manchester City coach as “one of the best in Europe”, telling a press conference: “It’s only right that he’s back in the game. He won everything in Italy and he’s won abroad too. Certainly it’s a pleasure to come up against him.”

However, Conte expressed concern that Galatasaray would be something of an unknown quantity.

“I would have preferred not to have met him tomorrow because when a club changes coach, it becomes hard to study how to face up to them,” Conte added.

“I don’t think Mancini can transform things in a day, but it’s for this reason that I would have preferred to face Galatasaray when I already knew how they would play. I’m not sure how much he can have an influence on tomorrow’s game, but it remains a question mark.”

Both sides will be looking to bounce back from disappointing results in their Champions League openers, with Galatasaray thrashed 6-1 by Real Madrid and Juve held to a 1-1 draw by Danish strugglers FC Copenhagen.

“Regardless of the draw in Copenhagen, we’ve got to give it our all,” Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci said. “When you’re at Juventus, you have an obligation -- to win. Our aim in all competitions is to repeat and improve on last season, so we’ve got to get three points.”

The Bianconeri may have to endeavour to do so without Carlos Tevez, who picked up an ankle injury in the derby with Torino at the weekend.

“He didn’t train yesterday and we’ll have to see,” Conte said on Tuesday. “It’s inevitable that I need guarantees and I won’t field a player who limps. We’ll know that after training today and, based on that, I’ll select my attackers.”

If Tevez misses out, Mirko Vucinic could return, with Conte saying he is up for selection, while one of Paul Pogba or Claudio Marchisio could be given a rest.
