Lewi 'to sign Bayern deal in January'

Robert Lewandowski is set to put pen to paper on a four-year deal at Bayern Munich on January 2, Polish football magazine Pilka Nozna has claimed.

Poland international forward Lewandowski, 25, is set to link up with Croatia international Mario Mandzukic, who told Gazzetta dello Sport: "As far as I am concerned, I will end my career here."

The long-running Lewandowski transfer saga began when he said he wanted to make the switch to Bayern over the summer -- but the club refused to sell him, meaning he is able to leave on a free when his contract ends at the close of this season.

Robert Lewandowski accepted that all parties had made mistakes in the dispute over his failed move to Bayern.
Lewandowski will sign a deal with Bayern in January, a Polish football magazine has claimed.

In August, after a near falling-out between player and club, both sides agreed on a hefty pay rise for the striker.

Pilka Nozna said Lewandowski would sign the deal with treble-winners Bayern, making the end-of-season move a formality.

Mandzukic, meanwhile, has said he is delighted with life at Bayern, adding: "As far as I am concerned, I will end my career here.

"We have got even stronger this season. We are very focused and have a great coach. We want to win everything again and become the first team to defend the Champions League title."

The striker, with four Bundesliga goals so far this season, said he was settling in to Pep Guardiola's way of playing, explaining: "At first I had problems adjusting to the system.

"He wants a quick game, with only one or two touches of the ball and permanent positional changes. The problem was that I had to play on the wing. That's not where I give my best performances."
