Sergio Aguero hails Samir Nasri

Sergio Aguero has singled Samir Nasri out for praise after the Frenchman put past derby disappointments behind him to inspire Manchester City’s 4-1 win over Manchester United on Sunday.

Curtis: The City is blue

Okwonga: Overwhelmed at the Etihad
Brewin: Three things we learned

Nasri played a part in each of City’s first three goals before volleying in the fourth himself as Manuel Pellegrini’s team recorded an emphatic win over their neighbours.

It was a marked contrast to Nasri’s derby display nine months earlier, when he deflected in Robin van Persie’s winner for United and was blamed by then City manager Roberto Mancini for defeat.

And Aguero said: "Nasri is clearly a fantastic player and he’s showing it once again. Hopefully he will keep it going and help the team to achieve things."

The Argentina international scored City’s first and third goals himself and enjoyed his new partnership with summer signing Alvaro Negredo, who recorded two assists.

He explained: "It was very good, and we are starting to get to know each other. We are all here to help each other and I’m delighted to play with him."

Aguero took his own tally to five goals in six games against United and the forward, who was also on target in 2011’s 6-1 derby win, added: "Yes, I like scoring against United. It’s enjoyable but the most important thing is to win the matches and that’s all I think about.

"It’s difficult to compare with the 6-1, this one has different players but the important thing is to win and it doesn’t matter if it is by four, five or six goals. We won, we scored and are winning the matches, that’s the important thing."
