Clarke buoyed by fresh faces

Steve Clarke says he's excited by the new arrivals he will start to integrate into his bottom-of-the-table West Bromwich Albion team at Fulham on Saturday.

Stephane Sessegnon wants to take the weight off Steven Fletcher's shoulders
Sessegnon could make his West Brom debut at Fulham this weekend.

The Baggies have made four new captures since slumping to the foot of the Premier League nearly a fortnight ago and, although Victor Anichebe is likely to be held back a little longer, all eyes will be on Stephane Sessegnon at Craven Cottage.

And Clarke believes the big-money ex-Sunderland man can make the difference in tight games.

"He is a creative player," the Hawthorns head coach said. "If it's drifting to 0-0, he can win you a game. He has that individual skill and can score or create out of nothing. He gives us that something we need, creativity and goals. He has both of those in his game.

"His skill level is tremendous. He's a player that we'll need to work with on the training ground to find a way to fit him into the team. But for a player of that ability, there has to be a place in the team because he has the ability to win matches. That's important.

"If you look at the top teams, they have a solid base and they're good at this and that but they've always got players who can create something from nothing. If you have a player who can do that, you have a chance to win the game.

"All the signings have excited me. I think the club did really good business towards the end of the transfer window and, hopefully quickly, we'll start to see the results improving on the pitch because of who we've brought in."

Clarke believes Anichebe is perhaps too short on game time to go in this weekend but the on-loan Morgan Amalfitano might be thrown into a side still seeking a first goal and first win after three league games.

"He's probably a name not many people knew about or thought of. But I've seen him over a number of years going into Europe and watching games. He's a player who works hard and is very good technically, understands his position and hopefully he can be a good surprise."

Albion's fourth pre-deadline signing, keeper Lee Camp, is unlikely for now to dislodge Wales international Boaz Myhill -- himself currently a stand-in for the injured Ben Foster. Free agent Camp was signed on a short-term contract.
