Martin Montoya considering Barca future

Martin Montoya's agent has indicated the right-back could leave Barcelona after entering the final 12 months of his contract at the Camp Nou.

Martin Montoya fires Barcelona's second goal against BATE Borisov
Montoya is highly-rated at Barcelona.

Montoya, 22, opted to remain at Barca during the summer transfer window, despite reported interest from the likes of Liverpool and Inter Milan

• Tomas: Replacing Valdes

• Ledwith: Year of Cesc

But, with the defender's path to the first team blocked by first-choice Daniel Alves and with no new deal seemingly imminent, it seems Montoya could consider his options.

His agent, Jose Maria Orobitg, is quoted by the Express as telling Sky Italia: "For the moment he is under contract with FC Barcelona until the end of the season. However, the contract extension has still not arrived.

"We have talked but there is no certainty that Martin Montoya would hold down a first-team spot, because right now Daniel Alves closes the door.

"The transfer window is closed, but I can tell you that the contract extension may not be successful.

"In the past, Inter Milan, Napoli, Bayer Leverkusen, Dortmund and Liverpool were interested. Anything could happen between now and June."
