Moyes convinced me to stay - Nani

Nani has said Manchester United manager David Moyes convinced him to sign a new five-year contract and stay at Old Trafford.

Okwonga: United pay the price
Brewin: A farcical window
Delaney: Market missteps

The Portugal winger, a £17 million signing from Sporting Lisbon in 2007, had been linked with a move away from the Premier League champions in the summer.

But the 26-year-old put pen to paper on a new deal last week after turning down offers from other clubs, reported to have included Juventus, Monaco, Galatasaray -- and said ex-Everton manager Moyes had been a key factor.

"I am very content with my new deal at Manchester United," he told the Daily Mirror. "This summer was not easy but, after a lot of thought and talking to David Moyes, I believe it was the best solution.

"I feel I can offer many things to United. I had other important offers, but without a sufficient challenge to make me want to leave United.

"The coach would not guarantee me a place more than any other player. I know I must work hard to get into this team. That is my objective for this season."

If Nani sees out his new contract, he will have been a United player for 11 years. Last week, he told United’s official website that playing for the club “has been a fantastic experience for me”.

Moyes said: "I'm really pleased Nani has re-signed for the next five years. He has great ability and experience beyond his 26 years. I've been impressed with his approach to training and look forward to working with him in the coming seasons."
