Cameroon coach hints at Eto'o quitting

Cameroon coach Volker Finke has hinted that Samuel Eto'o could announce his retirement from international football amid reports the striker has played his last game for the Indomitable Lions.

Eto'o has made more than 100 appearances for Cameroon.

Following Cameroon's 1-0 win over Libya on Sunday, which sealed his side's qualification to the next stage of World Cup qualifying, rumours emerged that Eto'o had told his team-mates that he plans on retiring immediately.

There are concerns over Cameroon's ability to qualify for next year's tournament without their captain and Finke was coy on the possibility of the Chelsea recruit quitting international duty.

"Samuel Eto'o is a great player and it is better that he should be the one to explain things," Finke said. "He is the only one who can explain why he took the decision.

"Of course, he has given a lot to football in general and for Cameroonian football in particular. I cannot say more than this because he is the only one to explain this."
