Kaka thankful for captaincy in debut

Kaka has thanked AC Milan goalkeeper Marco Amelia for handing him the captain's armband in his debut for the Rossoneri on Saturday.

Kaka was handed the captain's armband in his first match since rejoining Milan.
Kaka returned to Milan after four years away from the club.

The Brazilian made his first appearance in his return to the Italian club during a 4-0 friendly win over Swiss side Chiasso and he was given the opportunity to lead his side out by Amelia.

Kaka played 45 minutes in the outing and admitted his surprise at receiving the captaincy.

"It has been a fantastic weekend for me," he told Sky Sport Italia. "In the friendly it gave me shivers to wear the captain's armband and it was a real surprise.

"I didn't expect it, so I thank Amelia for this honourable gesture. We though together that it would be a nice thing, both for me and for Milan."

Coach Massimiliano Allegri believes Kaka has already shown he will be crucial in Milan's Serie A bid this season.

"Kaka has great quality, is a champion and his presence raises the level of self-confidence throughout the squad," Allegri told Milan Channel. "I must do well to get the best out of him and help him reach peak fitness.

"You cannot expect a player, even one of his level, to be ready straight away. Kaka is a lovely guy who is eager to work hard, which he proved already in training."
