Samir Nasri open to MLS or OM moves

Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri has said he would welcome a move to Major League Soccer or former club Marseille later in his career.

Nasri, 26, has two years left on his contract at the Etihad Stadium, and though he remains focused on earning a regular place in Manuel Pellegrini's starting line-up, the France international also has ideas about where his long-term future lies.

The Marseille-born player told L'Equipe he retains a soft spot for his hometown club, where he played before moving to Arsenal in 2008, and also has his sights set on emulating former international team-mate Thierry Henry and undertaking a trans-Atlantic adventure.

"Clearly, economic reality stops me from thinking about playing at OM right now," he said. "In the future, I don't know yet. I would like to discover the MLS. I love American culture."

On Marseille, he added: "Why not in a few years? I've seen the Stade Velodrome half-finished. When the work's done, I feel sorry for opposing teams."

Nasri's most immediate concern, however, is boosting his playing time at City. Having started all three Premier League games on the bench, he has totalled just 90 minutes on the pitch this season, but he remains confident he will have a central role in Pellegrini's plans.

"I had a talk with Manuel Pellegrini. We'll see what happens," Nasri said. "He came to me the first day and told me that he was counting on me, that I would be an important player, that I was going to play. We'll see -- I'm not worrying about it. If I'm good, the coach will play me. He's just arrived. He has to get results."
