West Brom have broken their transfer record in signing Stephane Sessegnon on deadline day.
Sessegnon, formerly of Sunderland, was the subject of a last-gasp bid from the Baggies, reportedly worth over £5 million.
The 29-year-old has signed a three-year deal at The Hawthorns, and his transfer fee has been confirmed as surpassing that of Shane Long who set the previous club record when moving from Reading in 2011.
In his first full season at the Stadium of Light, Sessgnon finished as the club’s eight-goal joint-leading scorer and top of the assists table to secure the Mackems’ Player-of-the-Season Award.
West Brom have also bolstered their squad with the signing of Victor Anichebe from Everton for a fee which could rise to as much as £6 million.
