Ajax have moved to fill the gap left by Christian Eriksen by signing midfielder Lerin Duarte from Heracles Almelo for an undisclosed fee.
Denmark international Eriksen was sold to Tottenham for a reported €13.5 million fee on Friday and 23-year-old Duarte arrives at the Amsterdam ArenA to wear his vacated number eight shirt for the next four seasons.
The Rotterdam-born player, who is expected to make his Ajax debut in an Eredivisie game against PEC Zwolle on September 14, told his new club's official website: "As a little boy you dream of this.
"I am very much looking forward to working hard here and playing. This is good step in my development."
Duarte is of Cape Verdean descent but has represented Netherlands at Under-21 level and received his first call-up to Louis Van Gaal's senior squad in May.
