Atleti sign Alderweireld and Guilavogui

Atletico Madrid have completed the signings of Toby Alderweireld and Josuha Guilavogui.

Toby Alderweireld has played over 100 games for Ajax since 2008
Alderweireld had attracted interest from several clubs this summer.

Alderweireld, 24, has signed a four-year deal after leaving Ajax for an undisclosed fee, and he told his new club’s official website he was delighted to complete the switch.

“I wanted to sign for one of the best clubs in Europe,” he said. “I'm happy to be part of this club.”

Alderweireld replaces Martin Demichelis, who has joined Manchester City, and is looking forward to linking up with Belgium team-mate Thibaut Courtois.

“He told me how great this team and its fans are,” Alderweireld added. “He advised me to come because he is very happy here.”

Guilavogui, 22, joins from St Etienne for an undisclosed fee and has signed a five-year contract.

“I am pleased to join a big club like Atletico and am looking forward to playing in front of their fantastic fans,” the France international said. “I hope to work hard for the team and win prizes in the coming years.”
