Brendan Rodgers has indicated that Liverpool’s transfer business is done -- barring a possible late move for Shay Given.
Rodgers got his major deadline-day business done early, with the signings of Tiago Ilori, Mamadou Sakho and Victor Moses completed before lunchtime.
Ilori, 20, joined from Sporting Lisbon for £7 million, fellow defender Sakho, 23, signed from Paris Saint-Germain in a £12 million deal and winger Moses, 22, arrived on a season’s loan from Chelsea.
Rodgers has been looking at the possibility of signing Aston Villa goalkeeper Given, 37, as a back-up for first choice Simon Mignolet.
A deal remains possible before the transfer window closes at 11pm on Monday, although Liverpool’s manager is happy to stick with Brad Jones as his second choice if Given does not sign.
Asked if there would be any further late transfer activity, Rodgers told Liverpool’s official website: “There won't be much more.
“We may look to bring one more in and we're just waiting on the go-ahead for that from the other club, but apart from that we did a lot of work early and haven't tried to leave it all to this mad day which sees the whole of football go berserk.
“We've tried to be controlled and get the players in as early as we possibly could.”
Rodgers was scheduled to spend Monday evening at a dinner in Liverpool to mark the 100th anniversary of legendary Reds manager Bill Shankly’s birth.
Discussing Liverpool’s early completion of key transfer deals, Rodgers added: “It means I can go and enjoy a nice evening at the Bill Shankly dinner and look forward to seeing some of the great players of the past and some members of Bill's family. It should be a good evening with all the signings done.”
