Luis Suarez stresses he's staying

Luis Suarez has again reiterated that he is staying at Liverpool, saying there is nothing to reports he might leave Anfield before the summer's transfer window shuts.

• Usher: Late businessa success

Stories in the UK and Spain had suggested that Real Madrid might make a last-gasp bid to take Suarez to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, while Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal and Atletico Madrid were also all linked with moves amid frantic deadline day speculation.

The man himself told reporters on landing in South America ahead of his country's upcoming World Cup 2014 qualifiers away in Peru and at home to Colombia that there was nothing to these stories about a potential last minute move.

"I still have nothing," Suarez said. "I closed the subject a while ago. I have already taken the decision to stay at Liverpool I have just landed, and I know nothing [about new rumours]."

Suarez -- currently serving a ten-match ban from playing club football imposed for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic -- apparently joked with the waiting journalists about the media's ability to create speculation out of nothing.

"If I play I am the subject of people talking, if do not play it is the same…" he said. "They have already put me in every team, but I have already finished with this."

The former Ajax man said again that he had hoped a move to Madrid might happen earlier in the summer, but he had always been happy with the idea of remaining at Anfield.

"At that moment I said that if something happens then good, but if I was staying at Liverpool I would be delighted," Suarez said. "This is over for a while now."
