Newcastle striker Loic Remy rebailed

Loic Remy has been rebailed until November after he was arrested earlier this year alongside his cousin and friend on suspicion of rape.

Loic Remy made his Newcastle debut against Fulham.
Newcastle is Loic Remy's third club in 2013.

The France international striker, who joined Newcastle on loan from Queens Park Rangers earlier this summer denies the allegation, with a Met Police spokesperson telling ITV News: "I can confirm today that three men who were arrested on the morning of Wednesday, May 15, aged 26, 23 and 22 on suspicion of rape have now been rebailed to appear on November 21, 2013."

The news comes after the former Marseille player finally made his debut for Newcastle in the 1-0 Premier League win against Fulham on Saturday.

Remy chose a move to QPR over Newcastle in January, but following Rangers' relegation he took advantage of a second opportunity to move to St James' Park.

"I am really happy and grateful to this club for the fact that even though I didn’t come here firstly -- they came back for me," he told the Evening Chronicle. "They have shown a lot of interest in me. I really need to repay them for that by going out there and doing my very best on the pitch. I need to repay them by doing well on this loan. We’ll see what happens after that but for now I am focused on doing as well as I can for Newcastle.

"I’m very happy. It’s not by chance that I chose to come to Newcastle. This is a club with a big history and a club in the Premier League that has a fantastic heritage. Quite to the contrary, I am not disappointed in any way to be here -- I am actually delighted. I want to leave my own personal mark on this club. I’m going to go out there, have a great season and score as many goals as I can."

Of his debut, Remy added: "I really couldn’t wait to get out there. My feelings are very good about life at Newcastle. I obviously wanted to try with Papiss [Cisse], Yohan Cabaye and Yoan Gouffran to try to make some chances with passes in front of goal. I do think there are some things to work on. But I think we’ve shown enough to start with that we can work well together. It’s been quite positive."
