Bayern hit back in Mourinho row

Bayern Munich chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has criticised Jose Mourinho and Ramires for the tackle which left Mario Gotze injured during the Super Cup on Friday.

Lomas: Guardiola, Bayern create history in Super Cup

Gotze is set to spend another three weeks sidelined following a late challenge by Chelsea midfielder Ramires, which saw the Brazilian receive a second yellow card.

After the game, Mourinho contested the decision to send his player off, saying: "The referee must have passion for the game and the game 11 v 11 was much better.

"It was not a situation where Ramires hurt the opponent, was not a situation where the opponent was in a dangerous counter-attack, was not a situation where you needed to show that second yellow card."

Rummenigge has continued the row and accused Mourinho of impertinence, telling Bild:  "In this foul, Mario [Gotze], you have to admit, is rather a lucky fellow. I think Mourinho’s statement was impertinent.

"If Mario still had his leg on the ground it probably would have been completely wrecked. That was the clearest red card ever. If a prominent coach like Mourinho then talks about a referring error, I ask myself if I attend the wrong game."

Gotze was relieved that he only suffered swelling, believing originally that he may have been spending a longer spell out of action.

"Of course it bothers me that I am ruled out for a few more weeks again," he said. "But if you look at the pictures, you can only be delighted that nothing worse happened."
