Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of centre-back Vlad Chiriches from Steaua Bucharest.
Romania international Chiriches, 23, reinforces the Spurs defence following the departures of William Gallas and Steven Caulker over the summer.
A statement on the club’s official website: “We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with FC Steaua Bucharest for the transfer of Vlad Chiriches.”
Chiriches -- who is reported to have cost in the region of €9.5 million -- spoke of his delight at completing the move to White Hart Lane.
Speaking after Thursday’s 3-0 victory over Dinamo Tblisi, Spurs head coach Andre Villas-Boas had spoken highly of Chiriches.
"He is an interesting player that has been followed by lots of teams," he said. "He has tremendous qualities coming out with the ball and that's what we like in our defenders. He is a great leader."
Tottenham are also set to announce the signings of Erik Lamela and Christian Eriksen after they underwent medicals along with Chiriches on Thursday.
