Alessandro Matri signs for Milan

Alessandro Matri has completed his move from Juventus to AC Milan -- a deal which could end the Bianconeri's transfer dealings for the summer.

• Paul: Milan secure place among Europe's elite

A fee of around €11 million was agreed between the two Serie A clubs and the transfer went through after Matri, 29, passed his medical and agreed personal terms with the side where he began his career.

The striker’s first ever top-flight appearance came ten years ago in a Milan shirt against Piacenza, although if the fans in the Rossoneri’s Curva Sud had any say in the club’s transfer matters, he would not have been given the chance to add to that tally this season.

“Matri: no thank you! The defence and midfield need strengthening and you shouldn’t be thinking of anything else,” read a banner held up by the fans during Milan’s 3-0 win over PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Their voice has not been heard, however, and the Italy international has returned to the San Siro.

“It’s been ten years and I’ve a lot of experience," Matri told the club's official website. "It’s a great feeling to come back to where you played as a boy.

"I know a lot of people here and the coach is someone I’ve worked with. There are many positive aspects. I spoke to [coach Massimiliano] Allegri yesterday and it’s up to me to get a place on the starting line-up but I’m ready to play.

"There was some interest from other clubs but as soon as Milan came in for me, I only wanted to come here. It was an objective for me and now it’ll be a great starting point."

As Matri arrives at Milan, Kevin-Prince Boateng leaves the Rossoneri. The midfielder is expected to complete his move to Schalke after having a medical with the Bundesliga club on Friday.
