Neymar delighted with Barca goal

Barcelona manager refuses to rule out a move for the unsettled Real Madrid 'keeper

Neymar expressed his delight after scoring his first Barcelona goal in Wednesday’s Spanish Supercopa first leg at Atletico Madrid’s Estadio Vicente Calderon.

Tomas: Neymar brings Supercopa closer after David Villa opener

The €57 million summer signing entered the action in the 59th minute to a cacophony of whistles from the home fans inside the ground, with Barca trailing 0-1 to David Villa’s opener for Atletico and with team-mate Lionel Messi having left the field at half-time with a knock.

The Brazilian wasted no time in getting involved, and within seven minutes had towered over marker Juanfran Torres at the back post to head in Dani Alves’ hanging cross and equalise.

He told TV Espana immediately after the game had ended 1-1 that his first competitive Barca strike had been an "emotional" moment, and particularly sweet as it came at a time when the team really needed it.

"I am happy because I came on and was able to help the team in a difficult moment," Neymar said. "The result is good, and now we have to finish it at home.

"Atletico are a strong team, they showed that again today. The tie is very open. It is an emotional moment, scoring my first goal. I hope Barcelona can keep going like this and be the champions.”

Later the 5-foot 8-inches tall attacker joked with reporters in the Calderon mixed zone that it had been unusual for him to score with his head.

"I score few goals with my head," he said. "But that means they are more valuable. I am more used to scoring with my feet. I am happy because with my first competitive goal because I was able to help my team-mates. The most important is to help the team."

Messi’s thigh injury means Barca’s two marquee South Americans have yet to really spend time together on the pitch in a competitive game, something which Neymar said he was looking forward to happening soon.

"It is bad not to be able to play with Messi, he is the best in the world and everyone wants to play with him."
