SydFC plays 2-2 draw in last Italian match

Sydney FC has ended its pre-season tour of Italy with A 2-2 draw against AS Reggiana.

After the match ended in a draw on Wednesday, both teams agreed to a penalty shoot-out, which was won 6-5 by the Italian side.

Despite being down 2-0 at halftime, the Sky Blues fought back with two goals in six minutes from Corey Gameiro and Nick Carle to level the scores.

Sydney FC played the match without Alessandro Del Piero, who pulled out after failing to pass a fitness test following an injury knock.

Del Piero revealed earlier on Twitter he would not participate in the match, stating: "I'm sorry, but after my last control I was not given the ok for the match against Reggina. But I will still be at the stadium tonight."

The former Juventus great, who moved to the A-League last season, arrived in Reggio late on Tuesday night and was met with a rapturous reception from waiting fans.
