United target Luke Shaw not for sale

Southampton will reject any bids from Manchester United for Luke Shaw and insist the left-back is not for sale.

Rann: How will Saints line up with Osvaldo?

David Moyes was reported to be switching his attention to Shaw after seeing two offers for Leighton Baines rejected by his former club Everton.

But sources told ESPN that United are yet to contact Southampton about the 18-year-old, who signed a new, five-year contract at St Mary’s last month.

Shaw has committed his future to Southampton.
Shaw impressed for Southampton during the 2012-13 season.

And ambitious Saints, who have spent around £40 million on Dejan Lovren, Victor Wanyama and Pablo Osvaldo this summer, are adamant that their best players are not for sale.

United bid £12 million for Baines and had a £28 million joint offer for the England international and Marouane Fellaini rebuffed and deemed “derisory” by Everton.

They were then linked with Shaw, who has been scouted by Chelsea and Arsenal in the past.

Patrice Evra has continued to occupy the left-back position for Moyes’ United but his deputy, Alexander Buttner, is being tipped to join Turkish side Besiktas.
