Juve looking to offload strikers

Juventus are hoping to shed some weight from their strike force this week with potential suitors for their unwanted attackers coming forward.

Fabio Quagliarella celebrates after giving Juventus the lead against Chelsea
Fabio Quagliarella is reportedly wanted by a number of English clubs.

The arrivals of Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente this summer have left Fabio Quagliarella, Alessandro Matri and even Mirko Vucinic surplus to requirements.

Attempts to offload at least two of the trio have so far failed to gather momentum, but that could be about to change.

Sunderland have emerged as favourites to reunite Quagliarella with former Juve team-mate Emanuele Giaccherini.

The Black Cats, managed by Paolo Di Canio, are reported to be preparing a bid for the former Sampdoria, Udinese and Napoli man, who may have sought advice about a move to the North East from Giaccherini.

Norwich City and West Ham are also thought to be preparing bids which could tempt the Bianconeri.

However, Juve may struggle to offload Quagliarella as he appears reluctant to move to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Napoli are turning their attention to Matri after failing in their attempt to land Porto striker Jackson Martinez.

The Italian champions want €15 million for the 28-year-old, but the Partenopei’s first offer is closer to €12 million.

Since Rafa Benitez’s side were willing to pay more than double that for Martinez, a deal between the clubs is considered likely as Juve seek to trim their attack for the new season.
