Luiz Gustavo yet to decide future
Luiz Gustavo is edging closer to a transfer away from Bayern Munich. However, the Arsenal target is yet to decide the identity of his next club.
Rumours in the English media over the weekend suggested that Arsene Wenger was prepared to table a €21 million offer for Brazil international Gustavo, 26, who has fallen down the pecking order at Bayern.
Following the signing of Thiago Alcantara from Barcelona, Gustavo has been allowed to start negotiations with other clubs.
For a number of weeks, Bundesliga club Wolfsburg appeared to be leading the race for the holding midfielder, who feels most comfortable when taking the defensive part in a 4-2-3-1 system.
Speaking at the side of the Bayern’s friendly in Gyor, Hungary, Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said Gustavo had not yet made up his mind.
"Luiz has offers from England, Spain, Russia and Germany. The player has not made a decision, yet." Rummenigge told reporters. Rummenigge also said the Sun’s report was "not correct"
Wenger has also moved to deny reports that a deal was already done. "There is nothing concrete yet," Wenger said at the weekend.
Gustavo was left out of the Bayern squad for their season opener against Borussia Moenchengladbach, which Bayern won 3-1. The club cited "knee problems" as the reason for his non-inclusion in the squad.
