Nani, Young in doubt for Wigan clash

Manchester United could be without Nani and Ashley Young for Sunday's Community Shield against Wigan at Wembley, with the wingers struggling to recover from injury.

Nani suffered a groin problem in Tuesday's 1-1 draw with AIK Solna in Stockholm and missed Friday's 3-1 defeat to Sevilla, while England international Young, who has missed much of United's pre-season programme, has a foot problem.

But centre-back Jonny Evans, who hurt his ankle in Sweden, returned for the final few minutes of the Sevilla game and should be available.

And manager David Moyes could also call upon striker Javier Hernandez.

He said: "I don't think Jonny Evans' injury is bad he will be involved, Nani maybe not, he's maybe going to be out for a few days and Ashley Young felt his foot in training. Chicharito isn't far away either, it is just a precaution with him. They are only minor niggles not something that will keep them out for a longer period

Sevilla won in Moyes' first match at Old Trafford, which was United's third loss in pre-season.

Moyes has also struggled to make signings since taking over at the club and while he said he had found his first five weeks in charge "brilliant", he admitted they had been frustrating.

"Everybody who takes over at Manchester United has testing times," he said. "Even Sir Alex Ferguson had testing times. It is no different for David Moyes."
