Luis Suarez considers legal move

Luis Suarez is considering legal action in a bid to resolve his dispute with Liverpool and force through an exit.

Luis Suarez has played this transfer game before.
Suarez could go to the courts in an effort to force a move.

Brewin: Sell Suarez
Usher: Suarez dichotomy

Arsenal have had two bids for the striker rejected - including an offer of £40,000,001, made in the apparent belief that the sum would trigger a release clause in the 26-year-old's contract.

Liverpool maintain that they do not have to sell Suarez at that price, and only have to inform him of any bids of more than £40 million.

But the Uruguay international believes he should be allowed to leave, and sources close to him have told ESPN he has not ruled out the possibility of either submitting a formal transfer request or going to court.

Suarez has used legal means in attempt to force an exit from a club before, doing so when Groningen initially refused to sell him to Ajax in 2007.

He took Groningen to arbitration over the matter and, although he lost the case, eventually won his move.

Groningen's resolve to keep Suarez was weakened by the dispute, and they eventually accepted an increased offer from Ajax, where he stayed for three-and-a-half years before moving to Liverpool for £22.8 million in January 2011.

Suarez signed a new Anfield contract in 2012, committing him to Liverpool until 2016 but, since the end of May, has given several interviews stating that he wants to leave the club.

He has not, however, submitted a transfer request, and manager Brendan Rodgers and managing director Ian Ayre have both stated publicly that they have no intention of selling him.

Suarez still has six games to serve of the ten-match domestic suspension imposed after he bit Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic during a Premier League match in April.

That ban only applies to competitive games, meaning he has been able to play in Liverpool's pre-season games.

He received a warm ovation from supporters when he appeared in Steven Gerrard's testimonial against Olympiacos on Saturday, and was cheered by around 5,000 fans during an open training session at Anfield on Monday but rarely acknowledged them.
