AC Milan's second Ljajic bid rebuffed

Inter are rumoured to be looking at Adem Ljajic
Ljajic joined Fiorentina from Partizan in 2010.

Fiorentina have rejected AC Milan’s latest bid for Adem Ljajic out of hand, branding it "inadmissible, late and inopportune".

The Rossoneri followed up a €7 million preliminary bid with an increased offer of €8 million, but rather than moving closer to an agreement the club appear to have pushed Fiorentina further away from the negotiation table.

Referencing the manner in which Milan allegedly courted Riccardo Montolivo, Fiorentina board member and advisor Paolo Panerai made his feelings known via Twitter.

"Dear Adriano [Galliani - Milan’s vice president], this is not the way to do things," he wrote. "You assured me you had not had contact with Montolivo. With Ljajic, you are breaking the rules."

The Viola have distanced themselves from that message, but shared Panerai’s feelings in an official announcement on their official website.

“In reference to the communication of Dr Paolo Panerai regarding the issue of Ljajic, while reaffirming that our advisor’s thoughts were expressed personally, we consider Milan’s offer inadmissible, definitely late and certainly inopportune,” read the club statement.

Fiorentina remain keen on extending the Serbian’s contract, although coach Vincenzo Montella says he will not keep him against his will.

Galliani, while denying committing any form of malpractice, does not now expect a deal to be done.

“We have not done anything wrong. All we have done is present an offer during a period when the transfer market is open,” he said after the Rossoneri’s 2-0 defeat to Chelsea in a pre-season friendly. “At the moment, I don’t think (a transfer is possible) given the remarks I am told have been said.”
