Marchisio: I want to stay at Juve

Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio has said he wants to finish his career at the club after turning down offers to leave Turin in the summer.

Marchisio, 27, attracted interest from Manchester United and Monaco but the Italy international said he was happy at Juve.

"There's talk about the possibility of me leaving every summer," he told Gazetta della Sport. "Of course I'm flattered that top European clubs are linked with me, but my dream is to end my career with Juve.

"I spoke with [Juventus general manager Beppe] Marotta because it was only right that I analysed the situation.

"I wanted to clarify everything with the club, but I never thought there should be any special treatment for me because of the fact I grew up here. In fact, the special treatment comes from me towards the Juventus shirt, which I have loved since I was a baby."

Marchisio has inherited the mantle of crowd favourite from Alessandro Del Piero, who moved to Sydney FC last year, but said he could still move if Juventus received an offer they felt they could not refuse.

"I know that you can never say never in football," he added. “I wouldn't be the first to leave the club I grew up in."

Marchisio made his debut for Juventus in the 2006-07 season and spent a year on loan with Empoli before returning to Turin, becoming a first-team regular and winning his first Italy caps at the age of 23.
