Adem Ljajic keen to leave Fiorentina

The future of Fiorentina midfielder Adem Ljajic could be determined this week with the player indicating he favours a move away from the Viola.

Adem Ljajic celebrates putting Fiorentina into the lead
Ljajic looks set to move abroad

The Serbia international is locked in discussions with his club over a new contract, but interest from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Atletico Madrid, Olympique Lyonnais and AC Milan is starting to distract him, according to Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella.

"He's experiencing an internal conflict," Montella told the Gazzetta dello Sport. "He has not looked very serene in recent days. What can I say, there are economic problems which are not easy.

"I'm willing to wait, just as long as he's serene, and today he doesn’t look all that serene. I’m still convinced that (staying with Fiorentina) would be the best solution for him."

The Viola have offered to double the player's wages, but are keen on stipulating a release clause in his new contract for a certain fee.

Should no agreement be reached, they may instead listen to offers for the Serbian, whose contract has just under a year left to run on it.

In that case, they are likely to prefer a bid from abroad, as they did with Stevan Jovetic, effectively ruling Milan out of the running for a player valued at €10 million.

Meanwhile, Montella was full of praise for Giuseppe Rossi, who scored twice in a 7-0 friendly win over Apollon Limassol, a result which has further raised the expectation levels ahead of the season.

"He never pulls back and shows that he has the courage to go into even the most difficult of tackles," said Montella. "We're both happy with the way work is going, but it’s obvious that Pepito's condition still needs to improve.

"We mustn't set ourselves any limits, but we must only think about giving 100%. Let’s not also forget that the Europa League has always caused problems to Italian clubs."
