Stoppage-time goal lifts Toronto

TORONTO -- Andrew Wiedeman scored in the third minute of stoppage time to give Toronto FC a 2-1 victory Saturday against the Columbus Crew and its first home win in more than a year.

Toronto (3-10-8) snapped a 16-match winless streak.

"It felt great," said Wiedeman, who was making his third appearance of 2013, all as a reserve. "Obviously minutes have been hard to come by. It's been kind of a roller-coaster ride of a season.

"It's good to get in there, get some minutes and get a reward for it," he said.

Under driving rain, Wiedeman lunged and chipped a left-footed shot past Crew goalkeeper Andy Gruenebaum to give TFC its first victory at the lakefront stadium since July 18, 2012. The Reds were 0-7-9 over that stretch.

"If we get a monsoon every last 10 minutes that would be great," Bobby Convey said. "The fans got into it and they got right behind the team and you saw that it gave everybody energy.

"Hopefully there's more of this to come."

The winner came just six minutes after Jonathan Osorio drilled home a left-footed shot from just inside the penalty area in the 87th minute to tie.

Osorio's fourth goal broke TFC's scoreless streak at 420 minutes, the worst mark of 2013 in MLS.

"I think justice is finally served for us," Osorio said. "We've been working hard and we've come close and finally we turned the tables today."

Dominic Oduro scored in the 17th minute for the Crew (6-10-5).
