Mourinho relaxed over Rooney

Jose Mourinho has said he is "calm" regarding Chelsea's pursuit of Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, insisting he is "happy" with the squad he currently has at his disposal.

Chelsea have seen their opening bid for Rooney rejected by United, whose manager David Moyes has insisted the player is not for sale.

Mourinho is an admirer of the England international and it has been reported that an improved offer for his services is forthcoming.

Speaking after Chelsea's 8-1 win over BNI Indonesia All-Stars, Mourinho was asked about the club's interest in Rooney.

"At this moment we have made what you know; that bid which was public and official and after that nothing else," Mourinho said.

"But we are calm as we told you that we are calm because we are happy with what we have."

Romelu Lukaku scored twice for the Blues on Thursday, while Demba Ba also struck, and their form, coupled with the pursuit of Rooney, led to questions of whether Fernando Torres' position is under threat.

The Portuguese added: "I think Fernando should be happy because we have competition in the team and I think that is good for everybody in every position.

"Fernando I think will be pleased because during his time at Chelsea he was basically the only striker and then after that there was the arrival of Ba in January.

"Now the team has three strikers and I think that is good."

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Chelsea's Premier League match at home to Aston Villa has been brought forward to August 21 due to the Europa League holders' involvement in the UEFA Super Cup.
