Sakho to announce future plans
France centre-back Mamadou Sakho has revealed he has made a decision about his future at Paris Saint-Germain but is keeping it to himself for the moment.
The 23-year-old, linked with Liverpool and Monaco, has a year left on his current deal at the Parc des Princes, but faced with increased competition for places following the €32 million arrival of Marquinhos, allied to the presence of both Thiago Silva and Alex in Laurent Blanc's squad, the Paris-born defender has been considering his options.
Following discussions with both Blanc and club president Nasser Al Khelaifi, Sakho has now reached a decision on whether or not to accept a two-year contract extension, though he told L'Equipe he is not quite ready to make it public.
"Now that I've spoken with them, everything is clear in my mind. I'll announce my decision in the near future," Sakho said, before indicating his ambitions of playing for France at the 2014 World Cup had helped dictate his choice.
"When you're an ambitious player, you dream all the time of wearing the colours of your country. This summer, I've made a clear choice, taking into account the French national team."
