Reds depart after Australian success

Liverpool departed Australia for Thailand on Thursday, leaving a song on everyone's lips.

The MCG's rendition of You'll Never Walk Alone - sung by 95,446 in the finest of voice on Wednesday night - will live long in the memory.

So too will the final crowd number for the Reds' 2-0 win over A-League club Melbourne Victory - the third highest soccer attendance in Australian history.

Only the Olympic Games finals in 1956 at the MCG which drew 104,700 and 2000 at Stadium Australia (104,098) have drawn bigger attendances.

Reds defender Martin Skrtel said he and his teammates would never forget the experience.

"I think everybody enjoyed that because playing in front of 95,000 people doesn't happen every day - it was a good experience for everyone," Skrtel told LFC TV.

"It was something special. It was only a friendly game but playing in front of 95,000 people is always great."

The squad, including Arsenal transfer target Luis Suarez, flew out of Melbourne on Thursday for the final leg of their Asia-Pacific tour in Bangkok.

Liverpool remain insistent Suarez will stay at the club, though what the Uruguayan striker wants remains unclear.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers believes Suarez must consider the Liverpool fans who have supported him through his racial abuse and biting controversies with any decision he makes on his future.

"Whatever happens in the coming weeks, I'm sure it will be on his mind, because it's something you can never forget," Rodgers said.

But Arsenal appear determined to at least force talks with Suarez, who is yet to publicly commit to the Reds or declare he wants to speak to the Gunners.

Liverpool play the Thai national team at Rajamangala Stadium on Sunday, before they return to Europe to continue their English Premier League pre-season.
