Real not planning to raid PSG for Zlatan

Real Madrid are not interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Cristiano Ronaldo will not be moving in the opposite direction, according to the Spanish club’s president Florentino Perez.

PSG's Zlatan Ibrahimovic will face his old club
Ibrahimovic is a key player for PSG.

There has been speculation that Carlo Ancelotti would raid his former club ever since he left PSG in June to take charge at Real Madrid.

But ahead of a friendly between the two sides in Sweden on Saturday, Perez said that Real Madrid would not be making a move for either Sweden striker Ibrahimovic or Italy midfielder Marco Verratti.

“Ancelotti has not asked us to sign a PSG player and I’m going to reassure Parisian supporters – we will not touch any player,” the Real Madrid president told L’Equipe. “Neither Ibrahimovic or Verratti, nor any other player.”

Perez said that if that situation changes in the next year or two, then he would let his PSG counterpart Nasser al-Khelaifi know first.

There has been no contact between the two men over Real star Cristiano Ronaldo, with Perez confirming that neither PSG, Monaco nor Manchester United have made an offer for the Portuguese attacker.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player in the world and this Real Madrid team is built around him,” the 66-year-old told L’Equipe.

“I can therefore assure you that he’ll end his sporting career there. And we haven’t received any offers.”

Ancelotti led Paris Saint-Germain to their first French title in 19 years last season but indicated in May that he would like to replace Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid.

Perez travelled to see al-Khelaifi in Paris in June and said Real did not have to pay too much in compensation to get their man.

The French club wanted to hold on to the Italian, who had a year left on his contract, but the Real president was delighted that they finally allowed him to join the nine-time European champions.

“It’s the third time that I tried to get him to come here and it’s finally become a reality,” Perez said of Ancelotti.

“I think he’s perfectly fitted to the style, the culture and the football of Real. He likes good footballers and wants to bring enjoyment, through our play, to supporters. That’s exactly what our members demand.”
