Man Utd lead A-League All-Stars 2-0

Manchester United turned on the class to dominate the A-League All-Stars, taking a 2-0 lead into halftime of the pre-season friendly at ANZ Stadium.

Before an enthralled if quiet sold out crowd, United scored two classy goals - the first goals of new manager David Moyes' reign at the club.

In truth, however, it could have been far worse for the home side, with the Premier League giants spurning a number of chances against a local side which was hopelessly outclassed.

United had three shots on target inside the opening 10 minutes before a brilliant Danny Welbeck dummy allowed a Ryan Giggs pass to set up Jesse Lingard for his first-ever goal for the club in the 11th minute.

Brisbane Roar's German midfielder Thomas Broich fired a dipping shot from outside the box just over the bar as the All-Stars looked to hit on the counter, one of few forays into the opposition half.

Striker Welbeck doubled the lead on 34 minutes with the evergreen Giggs again providing the final touch, a deft tap on driven home by Welbeck.
