Ince turns down Cardiff

Thomas Ince has rejected a move to Cardiff City and decided to stay at Blackpool.

Ince has decided against a move to South Wales.
Liverpool will miss out on funds as a result of Ince's decision.

The Premier League newcomers had agreed an £8 million fee for the England Under-21 forward, but he has opted to remain at Bloomfield Road.

Ince, 21, had also agreed personal terms with Cardiff, but cited family reasons for his decision not to move. His first child has just been born, while his father, Paul, is Blackpool’s manager.

“The player didn't want to leave his family or the Seasiders at this stage of his life,” Cardiff said in a statement on their official website.

It is also a blow to Liverpool, who had a 35% sell-on clause included in the deal that took Ince to Bloomfield Road in 2011 and would have received almost £3 million had he signed for City.

Ince scored 18 goals last season and had been a target for both Liverpool and Reading in the January transfer window.

Cardiff have made only one summer signing so far, bringing in Danish striker Andreas Cornelius for a club record £7.5 million.
