Obraniak eyes Russian move

Ludovic Obraniak has said he could leave Bordeaux this summer and is interested in moving to Russia.

Obraniak, 28, has resurrected his career since moving to Les Girondins from Lille, where his path to the first team had been blocked by Eden Hazard, in January 2012.

However, the departure of Benoit Tremoulinas to Dynamo Kiev this week has shown that Bordeaux are willing to listen to offers for established players, and Obraniak may now emulate his former team-mate by moving east.

"It's a desire. I'm 28, I've won titles in France, and if there's an offer from a foreign club which I'm happy with and the club's happy with, that would be the time to think about things," the ex-Poland midfielder, who recently called time on his international career, told Le Parisien.

"Russia is very interesting. Like Germany, it's an up-and-coming league. It's becoming attractive from the financial point of view - let's not be stupid about this - and also from the sporting one."

Obraniak, under contract at the Stade Chaban-Delmas until 2015, added that his Polish roots played a role in defining where his club future might lie.

"I have origins from the east and there is an atmosphere in Russia which I like," he explained. "It'll either come off or it won't, but if it doesn't happen this year, it'll be next year or perhaps in two years.

"I've never said I absolutely want to leave. I feel really good at the club where I've flourished in the last year and a half, and I've got no reason to force a departure. I'm here, but the idea is to experience something else."
