Adebayor stalling on Besiktas - report

Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor is stalling on a move to Besiktas, according to the Daily Mail.

Emmanuel Adebayor has impressed while on loan at Spurs this season
Adebayor has been tipped to leave Spurs this summer.

The paper reports that Adebayor is keen to play in European competition next season and will not seal a move until a verdict is reached on the Besiktas appeal against a one-year ban from the Champions League and Europa League over match-fixing allegations.

That appeal will be heard by UEFA's disciplinary committee on Thursday, with coach Slaven Bilic hopeful that he will be able to sign the former Arsenal and Manchester City forward ahead of the new Turkish league season.

"Adebayor is a very talented player - anyone would like him to be a part of their squad," Bilic told Lig TV last week. .

Tottenham are willing to listen to offers for the  Togolese, who scored only five Premier League goals last season.

Portugal striker Hugo Almeida led the Besiktas forward line in 2012-13, but Bilic lacked options following an injury to Turkish striker Mustafa Pektemek.

Tottenham might to be reluctant to rubber-stamp the sale of Adebayor until they have a replacement lined up and, having missed out on Spain striker David Villa last week, reports continue to link Andre Villas-Boas with moves for Valencia’s Roberto Soldado and Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke.
