Callejon set for Napoli medical

Napoli are close to signing Real Madrid winger Jose Maria Callejon after confirming the 26-year-old was in Italy to undergo a medical.

Real Madrid's forward Jose Callejon celebrates his goal
Jose Maria Callejon is close to a move to Napoli.

Callejon has scored 20 league goals in 78 games for Madrid since returning from Espanyol in 2011 and looks set to become manager Rafael Benitez’s second signing since joining the club.

Former Chelsea boss Benitez has already strengthened the Serie A club with Belgian winger Dries Martin arriving from PSC Eindhoven.

A statement published on sscnapoli.it read: “Jose Maria Callejon is in Napoli. The Spanish forward arrived in the city this afternoon and has already visited the Castelvolturno technical centre.

“Callejon will undergo medical tests tomorrow.”

Napoli finished second behind Juventus in the Serie A last season, but are rumoured to be losing star striker Edinson Cavani to Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
