Viola eager to sort out Jovetic future

After completing the signing of Mario Gomez from Bayern Munich, Fiorentina are now keen to know where the future of Stevan Jovetic lies.

Stevan Jovetic has suffered a thigh injury
Stevan Jovetic has been attracting interest in both Italy and England.

The Montenegro international forward has made no secret of his desire to leave the Viola this summer, but one of his prime suitors, Juventus, appear to have already concluded their summer spending spree - at least on forwards - by handing Bianconeri shirts to Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente.

With Gomez now on the wage bill, Fiorentina are looking to remove one of their biggest earners as soon as possible, and the honorary president of the Viola, Andrea Della Valle, has invited Juve to satisfy their demands immediately, or risk missing out on the player.

“Either they give us €30 million, or it’s off,” he said. “If they don’t give it to us, we will give him to somebody else. We need to know if they have the money or not. I believe they do have it. We’re not going to accept anything to offset the fee; we are not dropping below €30 million and we’re not going to wait much longer.”

While Juve dither, and appear reluctant to sign a third forward this summer, the focus is now turning to other potential destinations for the 23-year-old, with the Premier League emerging as his most likely destination.

Arsenal and Chelsea have been monitoring Jovetic‘s progress, while Manchester City now appear to be throwing their hat into the ring after missing out on Gomez. The Germany international, meanwhile, explained his decision to join Fiorentina via Facebook.

He wrote: “I had a fantastic time at the best club in the world and I am grateful for the amazing experience of a lifetime that I have been able to have here, but now a new chapter begins for me and I am really looking forward to Fiorentina, the city, the country, the language and the culture. And of course the tasty food.”
