Suarez given Liverpool deadline - report

Liverpool have given Luis Suarez until July 22 to sort out his future before he is ordered back to report for the club’s pre-season tour of the Far East and Australia, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Suarez, 26, has been linked with a summer exit from Anfield after repeatedly speaking of his unhappiness at living in England. He has also talked up a move to Real Madrid.

The Reds, however, do not want to lose their most prolific striker and would like him to join up with the squad after his holiday in South America, which followed his participation in the Confederations Cup in Brazil with Uruguay.

No decision has yet been made about where Suarez will be told to meet up with his team-mates, but he could be wanted to participate in Liverpool’s first game of the tour against Melbourne, in the city's famous cricket ground, on July 24.

The club are likely to demand that he returns in time for the last leg of the tour, if not before, when they take on a Thailand XI in Bangkok on July 28.

The Daily Mirror reported that, as yet, no offer has been received for Suarez, while Madrid have yet to contact Liverpool about him.

The situation is frustrating both the club and manager Brendan Rodgers, who wants Suarez’s future resolved long before the start of the new Premier League season on August 17.
