Thiago Silva cool on 'dream' Barca move

Thiago Silva has described the prospect of playing for Barcelona as "a dream", but insisted he is "very happy at PSG for the moment."

Thiago Silva arguably best completes the modern central defender's checklist.
Thiago Silva was initially linked with Barcelona before he signed for PSG last summer.

Silva, 28, has been consistently linked with the Catalans this summer, with Barca reportedly making a €32 million bid for the PSG captain earlier this week.

However, the Ligue 1 champions, notably through their president Nasser Al Khelaifi, have repeatedly stated that the Brazil international will stay at the Parc des Princes, where he signed a five-year contract after an estimated €42 million move from AC Milan only a year ago.

And while Silva reiterated his admiration for Barcelona, he also told Globoesporte that he is content with la belle vie in the French capital.

"Last year, there was speculation and talks with Barcelona which came to nothing. This year, there's been nothing, I'm very calm in my head regarding transfers,” Thiago Silva said. “To play for Barcelona is a dream for all players, but I'm happy at PSG for the moment. My wish has always been to play in Europe and at a big club."

Earlier on Thursday, an interview with Al Khelaifi was published in the Spanish newspaper Sport in which the Qatari stated emphatically: "Thiago Silva is not for sale, he will stay at the club until the end of his contract. The problem is not that Barca are not offering us enough money, the problem is we don't want to negotiate his sale."

His comments echo those of newly-appointed PSG coach Laurent Blanc, who told the media on Wednesday he had spoken to his centre-back, who is on holiday following the end of the Confederations Cup, and been convinced Silva's mind was firmly fixed on the Parisian club's lofty objectives for next season.

"He's fully committed to the PSG project. We're preparing an individual training programme for him. I felt that he was committed," Blanc said.
