Anin to leave hospital after coma

Nice midfielder Kevin Anin is set to leave hospital on Friday, more than a month after the road accident that may have cost him his playing career.

Anin, who turns 27 on Friday, was put into an artificial coma at a hospital in Rouen after sustaining serious arm and spinal injuries in a car crash in his native Normandy on June 3, but he is now ready to begin his recovery. "Friday, Saturday, Sunday home and Monday off to rehabilitation," Anin's sister, Soukhy, tweeted with regard to her brother's immediate future.

Though the exact nature of his injuries remain unclear, his club did declare their concern for him at the time of the crash, adding that it had been a "serious" accident.

Asked whether the former Sochaux midfielder, whose exploitation of his undoubted potential has been hampered by depressive episodes, would play again, Anin's sister added on Twitter: "Only the rehab will tell us."

Last month, Nice president Jean-Pierre Rivere suggested to RMC that it was unlikely Anin would pull on his boots in the professional game again.

"The whole club has been badly affected by what has happened to Kevin, who is an adorable, charming boy. When he came to the club, I gave a commitment which was to give him back his smile. The whole club got behind him, and he had rediscovered his taste for life. He's great when he's like that. Unfortunately, the momentum has been broken, and another life is starting for him."
