Toulalan closes in on Monaco move

Malaga vice president Abdullah Ghubn has confirmed on Spanish radio station Onda Cero that the Andalusian club have reached an agreement for the transfer of Jeremy Toulalan to AS Monaco.

Jeremy Toulalan has quietly gone about his business at Malaga
Toulalan will return to French football.

According to Ghubn, it is a transfer that the Frenchman was keen to push through: "There is a deal in place for the sale of Toulalan to Monaco. The player wanted to return to France and we didn't want to make things difficult."

Toulalan has been an important and popular member of Malaga’s first team since he signed from Lyon in 2011. The midfielder played a total of 55 games in his two seasons at the Rosaleda, scoring three goals.

However a summer of change on the Costa del Sol, which has seen both former manager Manuel Pellegrini and star player Isco leave the club, could have convinced the 29-year-old that it was the right time to move on.

Toulalan will become the latest in a string of signings the super rich, newly promoted French side have made. Monaco have already captured the signatures of James Rodriguez, Joao Moutinho, Ricardo Carvalho and Radamel Falcao.
