Inter to fund overhaul with bank deal

While Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti continues to ponder an offer from Indonesian media mogul Erick Thohir for a share in his club, Germany's Deutsche Bank have provided a further source of funding by becoming a new top sponsor of the Nerazzurri.

A sponsorship deal between the German bank and the Serie A club was signed on Tuesday, and coach Walter Mazzarri is likely to benefit with more funds made available for new players this summer.

Ishak Belfodil is set to become the first new face at the club's Pinetina training ground by joining from Parma, but the 2010 Champions League winners could now afford to fund further signings as reconstruction work begins after their worst season in 14 years.

As a result of the latest deal, Mazzarri can now intensify attempts to lure the likes of Radja Nainggolan and Juan Zuniga to Milan and give the club's fans reason to be optimistic about the season ahead. The club's followers are also set to benefit more directly from the accord with Deutsche Bank.

"We have a reliable partner with whom we can share strategies destined for our fans," said Inter's general manager Marco Fassone on his club's website. "The interest in Inter and its new commercial strategy, and the consequent arrival of Deutsche Bank, is a demonstration of faith for which we are grateful and proud, being the only club in Italian football to have such an internationally recognised partner as official bank."

One of the first products to be announced as part of the partnership is a finance deal for the purchase of season tickets next season. Last year, 36,000 were sold, ensuring Inter the biggest average crowds in Serie A last term with 46,551 at their games inside the San Siro.
