Hunt signs for Leeds

Republic of Ireland striker Noel Hunt has signed for Leeds United on a two-year contract.

Hunt, 30, left Reading at the end of last season after failing to secure a new contract with the Championship club and will link-up with his former Royals boss Brian McDermott at Elland Road.

The younger brother of Wolves winger Stephen Hunt played 24 Premier League games for Reading last season, but could not prevent their slide out of the top-flight.

McDermott told the club's official website: "Noel is a player that I scouted five years ago when he was playing for Dundee United.

"We spent £500,000 on him at the time, and that was money very well spent. He's an infectious character and I'm sure he will engage Leeds United fans with his desire and determination, and never say die attitude.

"He will bring an awful lot to our squad on and off the pitch, and I'm delighted he's chosen to come and play for Leeds."

It has already been quite a summer for Hunt, as he got married in Clare, Ireland, last month and has just returned from a honeymoon in time to link up with Leeds ahead of their first pre-season game this Friday.
