Silva: Vilanova wanted me at Barca

Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva has revealed he turned down an attempt from Tito Vilanova to lure him to Barcelona last season, claiming he is "happy at PSG".

Despite only joining PSG from AC Milan last year, Silva is seen as a key summer target for Barca as Vilanova's side prepare to defend their La Liga title.

Silva has also been linked with Manchester United following the departure of Carlo Ancelotti at the Parc des Princes, but PSG are confident of holding onto their captain.

The Brazil international confirmed he spoke to Vilanova after PSG were eliminated from the Champions League by the Spanish champions in April, although Silva insists he sees his future in the French capital and has no intentions of leaving.

"Tito is an excellent manager, and a man that I admire," Silva said. "At the PSG-Barcelona Champions League game I had a brief chat with him and he invited me to play for them.

"There are no negotiations to be talked about. I'm quite calm about it all and just want to enjoy my holidays. You never know what's going to happen in football, but I'm happy at PSG, and at ease there. I talk with the president every day. I can't see myself leaving.

"It's difficult, not like last year when Milan wanted to sell me. Now it's very different - PSG doesn't want to sell me. I hope it all gets sorted out as soon as possible to be rid of all this incertitude."
