Siqueira cool on transfer talk

Granada left-back Guilherme Siqueira - a reported target for Everton and Liverpool - says he will only leave the Primera Division club should an offer which is too good to turn down arrive.

Siqueira, 27, has been suggested as Roberto Martinez’s preferred option should current Toffees left-back Leighton Baines follow his former boss David Moyes to Manchester United, while their Merseyside rivals and Turkish champions Galatasaray have also been mentioned in persistent speculation in Spain.

The Brazilian defender, who joined Inter Milan’s youth system as a teenager, and joined Granada via the club’s close links to Udinese, told Marca that he would be open to an offer which met both his sporting and financial hopes, however remaining at Granada was a good option too.

"To leave it would have to be an offer impossible to turn down from both sporting and financial points of view," Siqueira said. "The operation would also have to be good for the club, and the new team would have to be on the Champions League level. If this does not happen, I would not be worried at all about staying at Granada, where I am very happy."

The tall defender has impressed in his two Primera Division seasons at Granada, scoring 13 goals in 83 appearances, most of which were coolly dispatched penalties. Asked about quotes of his which had emerged suggesting the time was right for him to move on from Granada, Siqueira clarified that he was not agitating for a transfer.

"I do not want to leave Granada,” he said. “I am happy here, I feel very loved by the fans and this is a spectacular city. What I said was that, if there was a moment for a transfer, I believe this is it. But I would not change Granada for anywhere."

If there was interest from any other clubs, nobody had yet followed up with a firm offer, Siqueira suggested.

"I do not know anything," he said. “If the club has received an offer for me, they should let me know. I am on holidays and have said to my agent not to call me unless there is a firm offer. And nobody has called me yet."
