Ribery signs new contract

He may have a lot to prove after replacing Jupp Heynckes, but Bayern Munich's new manager has already won over some new fans

Franck Ribery has committed his long-term future to Bayern Munich by signing a new four-year contract with the club.

• No.10 role for Ribery?
• Schaaf: Pep is ready
• Lahm happy with Pep

France international Ribery, 30, confirmed towards the end of last season that he planned to extend his stay with the club.

And following the beginning of pre-season training Bayern took the opportunity to tie down the three-time Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal winner.

"I'm really pleased,'' Ribery told the club's official website. "I always said how great it feels to be at FC Bayern.

"I have a good feeling for me and my family and I hope things will carry on the way they were in the past year."

Information from the Press Association was used in this report.
