Shakhtar will 'listen' to Mkhitaryan offers

Shakhtar Donetsk chief executive Sergei Palkin says the club have come to terms with the fact that Henrikh Mkhitaryan may be sold if an acceptable bid comes in for the midfielder.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been in Donetsk since first signing for Shakhtar's city rivals Metalurh in 2009

Liverpool have long been favourites to sign Mkhitaryan, but Borussia Dortmund recently emerged as possible contenders for the player’s signature, with Palkin claiming on Wednesday that Shakhtar had rejected a £19.5 million from the Champions League finalists.

Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala have also reportedly now entered the race for Mkhitaryan, who set a Ukrainian league scoring record with 25 goals last season.

And Shakhtar, who had initially rejected the notion that they would sell Mkhitaryan, have now decided he can go for the right price.

“Henrikh is an important player in our team. Shakhtar wants to keep him, but we are willing to listen and consider all suggestions for a transfer,'' Palkin told Russian newspaper Izvestia.

“We have already parted with Willian (to Anzhi) and Fernandinho (to Manchester City), but the club will not just sell players. In the near future we will also gain quality, designed to replace the leading players, possibly including Henrikh.''
